Want to know how to install AWS CLI on Windows? In this guide, we will show you how to install the Amazon command-line interface on a computer running Microsoft Windows.

AWS CLI – Creating an EC2 Access Key

Open a browser, open Amazon AWS, and enter your login information.

Upon successful login, you will be sent to the AWS toolbar.

In the upper right corner of the screen, click your username and select the Security Credentials option.

Check the box and click the “Go to security credentials” button.

Select the access key tab and click the “Create a new access key” button.

Write down your public access key and secret access key.

Remember that there is a restriction on the use of two AWS keys.

You have completed creating the required EC2 key.

Install AWS CLI on Windows

Go to the AWS CLI website and download the correct MSI package for your environment.

Double-click the AWS CLI package to complete the installation.

After installation is complete, open an elevated command prompt window.

In elevated DOS windows, use the following command to configure the AWS command-line interface.

Use the following command to configure AWS-CLI.

# aws configure

You will need to enter your key identifier and the private key.

AWS Access Key ID [None]: AXXXXXXXX
AWS Secret Access Key [None]: + 5XXXiQXXXXXXX0lHKxcdxVL +
Default region name [None]: us-west-2
Default output format [None]:

In our example, we chose us-west-2 as the default region.

Use the following command to test communications with the AWS cloud.

# aws ec2 describe-regions

This command will list all regions where the AWS cloud is available.
